Built for how Midrand does business

Midrand is Gauteng's logistics and corporate corridor. Waterfall City and the Mall of Africa precinct hold regional head offices and the professional firms that follow them; Halfway House, Kyalami and the Old Pretoria Road strip carry distribution centres, vehicle dealerships, training centres and the engineering and telecoms companies that want to be halfway to both cities. Carlswald, Noordwyk, Vorna Valley and the Kyalami estates add hundreds of consultancies and agencies run from home offices.

Two things make Midrand IT different. The first is scale: a distribution business with thirty handhelds, three printers and a warehouse Wi-Fi network is a different support problem from a ten-person office, and the network has to be designed, not bought one access point at a time. The second is location: Midrand businesses are used to being told they are 'out of area' by both Pretoria and Johannesburg providers. From Centurion they are twenty minutes down the N1, on the way to everywhere.

We support Midrand businesses with the same packages we run in Centurion and Pretoria East: per-user pricing, a weekly on-site visit for Fully Managed clients, 24/7 monitoring, and a R650 callout on every visit so travel is never hidden in the fee.

Your Midrand engineer

Senior engineer, Midrand

One senior engineer is assigned to every managed client in Midrand and does the weekly on-site visit in person. Most weeks that engineer is between Waterfall, Kyalami, Halfway House and Vorna Valley on the N1, with remote support from Centurion for everything that does not need hands on a keyboard.

What Midrand businesses ask us to fix

The six things behind most of the tickets we get from this side of town.

Warehouse and yard Wi-Fi

Handhelds that drop off the network between racks cost picking time every hour. We survey the floor, place industrial access points properly and separate the scanner network from the office one.

Head-office links to other branches

Waterfall and Halfway House host regional offices with branches across the country. We build site-to-site VPNs and standardised branch setups so every site is the same image and the same helpdesk number.

Fibre in the business parks

Most Midrand parks have Openserve, Vumatel, MetroFibre or a building provider; the shared building switch is usually the weak point. We liaise with the provider and add LTE failover where a fault would stop dispatch.

Load-shedding across two municipalities

Midrand is City of Johannesburg territory with different blocks from Tshwane next door. We map your block, size UPS for network and server, and set failover so calls and card machines survive the slot.

Microsoft 365 for mobile teams

Sales teams on the road need mail, Teams and files to work from a phone and to be backed up. We administer Microsoft 365, secure the devices and back up every mailbox nightly.

Growing fast and buying IT one laptop at a time

We standardise what you have and plan the next purchases so licensing, network and security scale with the headcount.

Midrand questions

What businesses on this side of Pretoria ask before they sign.

Is Midrand in your service area or 'out of area'?

Midrand is twenty minutes from our Centurion office down the N1 - closer than most of Johannesburg. It is fully inside our area at the standard R650 callout; there is no distance surcharge.

Do you support warehouses and distribution centres, not just offices?

Yes. Warehouse Wi-Fi for handhelds, label printers, dispatch PCs and the office network are a large part of our Midrand work. We survey the floor before we quote.

Can you connect our Midrand head office to branches in other provinces?

Yes. Site-to-site VPNs, standardised branch images and one helpdesk number for every site, with remote support to the branch before anyone drives.

What does managed IT cost for a 20-person Midrand business?

Core Business IT is R750 per user per month, Fully Managed R950 and Enterprise R1,299. Twenty users on Fully Managed is R19,000 a month including the weekly on-site visit, tested backups and Microsoft 365 administration; Enterprise adds four on-site hours a week, managed servers and an account manager.

Which load-shedding schedule applies in Midrand?

City of Johannesburg's, not Tshwane's, and different from Centurion next door. We map your block and size the UPS and failover for it.

How quickly can an engineer be on site?

Critical faults are answered within two hours in writing; most are fixed remotely inside the hour. When hands are needed an engineer is on the N1 the same morning.

Do you work with our fibre provider?

Openserve, Vumatel, MetroFibre and the building providers in Waterfall and the business parks - we liaise with whichever is in your street so you phone one number.

Can we start with pay-as-you-go?

Yes - R750 an hour plus the R650 callout per visit. Sign any package within 30 days and half of what you spent is credited.

Useful for Midrand businesses

Your first month with us in Midrand

What happens between signing and the first monthly report. No surprises, nothing done without a quote.

  1. Day 1

    1. Site survey and inventory

An engineer walks the premises, photographs the comms cupboard, records every computer, printer, switch and licence, and notes the fibre provider, the UPS run-time and who has admin rights. You get the inventory as a spreadsheet the same week.

  2. Week 1

    2. Monitoring and protection on every device

Our agent goes onto every computer and server: patching, antivirus, disk health and backup status report back to the helpdesk. Anything already failing shows up now, before it becomes a call.

  3. Week 1

    3. Backups tested, not assumed

Whatever backup exists is restored to a test folder to prove it works. If nothing exists, a nightly cloud backup of servers and Microsoft 365 mailboxes goes in, with a restore drill in the diary.

  4. Week 2

    4. The written 10-point plan

Ten things we would fix, in priority order, each with an estimate. Some are free (password policy, removing admin rights), some need budget (a UPS that lasts the full two hours). You decide the order; nothing is done without a signed quote.

  5. Week 3

    5. First scheduled visit

The assigned engineer's weekly on-site slot starts. Users know the face and the day; small annoyances get fixed while they are small instead of becoming tickets.

  6. Week 4

    6. Review with the owner

Thirty minutes: what was found, what was fixed, what the monitoring shows, what is next. Then monthly, in writing, for as long as you are a client.
